Global Warming 2017

April 21, 2017 By envasns_org

We are in 2017; the question is what global warming is? Is it real and should we be worried about the status of things? There are two answers to that question; there are some who believe that global warming is not a thing e.g. the Trump administration. And there are others who are convinced that our activities are responsible for what’s happening around the world.

I’m sure that you can tell the difference between back then and now if you are in the US, Canada, or east Africa I’m sure that you have noticed that this year so far has been very hot. Take Kenya and Somalia for instance, this year there are droughts affecting these areas, and it’s just not happening there, the high temperatures are being experienced in almost all parts of the planet. To get an idea of how hot the planet is you should take a look at global temperature maps here.

Something must be causing these changes; in the US when compared to 1985 the temperatures have risen by 3 degrees Fahrenheit. This has made February 2017 one of the hottest in US history. According to the scientist, these temperature changes are the result of greenhouse gas emissions, if we continue on this same path in the future high temperatures will be the norm.

Still, in the US, the Environment Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt said that in his opinion he does not believe that carbon dioxide is the primary source of global warming. The problem is this statement conflicts with the public stance held by the EPA. This statement also contradicts with NASA’s findings

The problem is “alternative facts” won’t stop what’s happening to the planet; it doesn’t take much for you to get what’s going on. All you have to do is look at the numbers. If you check NASAs statistics, you will find that the planet is making temperature records every three years. In fact, 2017 is expected to be one of the hottest years in recorded history.

What can you do to help slow down global warming?

The numbers aside the question remain, what can you as an individual do to help slow down global warming? If you are waiting for the next person to deal with it, you should stop that. You see the thing is you are as responsible as the government is for global warming, this means that you should also become part of helping solve it. What you can do are:

  • Use less heat and air conditioning
  • Go Green e.g. buy solar panels
  • Reduce, reuse and recycle
  • Drive less (consider buying a bicycle
  • Go for energy-efficient products
  • Plant a tree

The most important thing you can do for the planet is speaking out, let your voice be heard. Sitting on your couch complaining how hot it is wont stop factories from pumping CO2 into the atmosphere, but if you speak out and get other people to follow you, you can do something.
