Environmental Benefits of Trees in Vancouver

Trees are one of the most beneficial things to ever exist. They make a street feels a little bit more relaxing and provides a sense of distinction between pedestrians and the roads. A street lined with full-bloomed trees evokes a sense of calmness and easiness. Not only are trees beautiful and extremely attractive to the eyes like the magnificent fall colors of the leaves in Autumn, or the flowery trees in Spring, but they also provide great comfort. Trees are really part of humans, something so important in their lives. Trees will never go out of style, indeed. Here are some of the benefits they provided for Vancouver:

Saves Energy
Trees reduced the use of energy concerning the heavy heat that summer brings. They provide convenience and help you save money from spending it on cooling costs or even heating bills. Any person in a Tree service company would know this.

Improves Quality of Air
Trees surely improve the quality of air by means of absorbing air pollutants and producing oxygen in return. Trees are a big factor for our breathing. Thanks to them we are still alive and kicking. Imagine a world without a tree, the air would surely be as thick as the mountain fogs, except it is smelly and dark in color.

Air Pollution Reduced
When there are trees surrounding the environment, it lessens the tendency of humans to use synthetic resources which release energy that makes the air hotter. Since trees absorb carbon dioxide that humans …

How To Choose A Garburator That Will Work For You

One of the must-have kitchen appliances is the garburator or the garbage disposal. It goes a long way in reducing the amount of garbage that you must take out as trash. Importantly, it makes the process of doing dishing a rather pleasing and easier.

However, this is only true when the garbage disposal that you have installed in your kitchen is suited for your needs. Choosing a garburator on a whip will more likely result in a less than stellar experience, as the unit you choose might not meet your needs, thus resulting in compromised users-experience.

Herein we are going to explore the considerations to have in mind whenever you are on the market for a new garburator, to install in your kitchen or replace an old existing one.

Understand the Existing Garburator Technology

Garburators come in different designs:

#1. The Continuous Feed Disposal Design – With this design, the garburator will run as long as the disposal unit is running. For many, this is their preferred disposal unit as it is incredibly convenient and easy to run as you can feed the waste food while the unit is still running. Additionally, these varieties of disposal units are relatively inexpensive.

#2. The Batch Feed Disposal Design – With this design, the unit only runs when the cover is in place. As such, funneling waste for grinding is done in batches, hence the name batch feed. This unit is the best choice when safety is of critical importance, as it eliminates …

Global Warming 2017

We are in 2017; the question is what global warming is? Is it real and should we be worried about the status of things? There are two answers to that question; there are some who believe that global warming is not a thing e.g. the Trump administration. And there are others who are convinced that our activities are responsible for what’s happening around the world.

I’m sure that you can tell the difference between back then and now if you are in the US, Canada or east Africa I’m sure that you have noticed that this year so far has been very hot. Take Kenya and Somalia for instance, this year there are droughts affecting these areas, and it’s just not happening there, the high temperatures are being experienced in almost all parts of the planet. To get an idea of how hot the planet is you should take a look at global temperature maps here.

Something must be causing these changes; in the US when compared to 1985 the temperatures have risen by 3 degrees Fahrenheit. This has made February 2017 one of the hottest in US history. According to the scientist, these temperature changes are the result of greenhouse gas emissions, if we continue on this same path in the future high temperatures will be the norm.

Still, in the US, the Environment Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt said that in his opinion he does not believe that carbon dioxide is the primary source of global warming. …

Tips on Recycling

The thing is over 80% of what you use or throw in the trash can be reused or repurposed; this means that before you disposal off something you should ask yourself one critical question, can this be recycled? If it’s recyclable get it recycled if it can’t be recycled dispose of it properly.

For instance, if you have shredded paper the best thing to do is to burn it, the remarkable thing about recycling is most times it doesn’t require much effort  especially at home. There are environmentally friendly ways to get rid of things in your home that you don’t need, check out the following.

Buy or designate a recycling bin

In that bin you should put all plastics that you no longer need, the idea is to separate the organics from the inorganics. The good thing about most plastic products is you can re-use them e.g. to store water or in arts and craft. However, if you can’t reuse it make sure that it ends up in the right place e.g. in a landfill or waste to energy facility. The simple way of doing that is to put it in the trash.

Burning plastics is not a good idea, look at it this way some can kill you. Simply put, when you are done using plastics don’t throw them out the window or on the road get them recycled.

Stop buying bottled water

Water is still water whether it comes out of a tap or high up in …

I’m Young, What can I do to Help?

No matter how young or old you are one thing remains we all have to share this planet, this means that we all have an equal responsibility to take care of it. Being young is not an excuse to be harsh to the environment. In fact being young gives you more time to help “save” the planet.

If you are still living with your parents this is not the time to start thinking about buying solar panels, what you as an individual should start thinking about is. Given what you have now what can you do to help?

Start by Volunteering

When you volunteer for something that is of a worthy cause you get to learn, meet people and the experience you get from it will look good on your resume in future. If there is a conservation project at school or near your home, you should take the opportunity and volunteer.

Volunteering can open doors for you that will remain closed to people who don’t, therefore if you want to help this is the place to start.

Get Educated

It pays to know what and why you are doing what you are doing if you understand the issues you are dealing with you will be in a better position to help fix them. The idea is to keep up with current happenings around the world; the best way to do this is to watch documentaries, the news, read environmental articles, etc.

By doing this, you will discover …

How to Help Save the Earth

Did you know that each time you throw out trash anywhere you are not supposed to you could be killing a whale? Recently a dead whale was found in Norway with over 30 plastic bags in its stomach. The problem with plastic is its nonbiodegradable; this means that if you throw away a piece of plastic, it may eventually find its way into an animal.

This makes plastic pollution one of the biggest problems facing the planet today, to get an idea of how much plastic you use you should take a look at an experiment done by an environmental activist named Rob Greenfield. What he did was he decided to collect every single piece of garbage he creates in a month. He ended up wearing lots of trash.

The thing is we throw away 50% of plastics we use in a day, for instance, that coke bottle you left sitting on a bench somewhere or that plastic bag you used to carry your lunch with. The question is what you can do to help save the planet?

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

Imagine if everyone in your neighborhood decided to throw away all their plastics out the window, by the end of the day the area will look like a dump. So instead of throwing out plastics e.g. a bottle, you should reuse it to carry water or recycle it if you have no use for it.

The point is if it can be reused, use it and if …

How the Waste Management Industry Works

In my opinion, there is a slight similarity in the way the waste industry works and the way your body works, the way your body works is very simple. You consume something, your body gets what it needs, and you dispose of the waste/excess through bowel movements. In, the end what you consumed e.g. a plant turns into nutrients that are used by plants.

To understand how waste disposal works you must look at the life cycle of a product, the life cycle of all products starts with the design phase, it then goes to manufacturing, after that the product is used, and in the end, the product might be reused or recycled.

What Happens to Trash?

 Plastic

After plastics are collected, they are sorted and separated depending on types e.g. PET or HSPE, the plastics collected then used by companies that manufacture textiles, bottles, carpets, etc. to create new products. Usually, plastics are washed, ground up, melted and then used to make whatever it is the manufacturer is producing.

Instead of throwing plastics out the window, you should put them in the trash. This will help reduce plastic pollution.

Paper

Most of the toilet papers you use are made of recycled paper; the process starts with a collection of papers after papers are collected they are usually separated into four categories namely:

  • Office Mix
  • Mixed papers
  • Old newspapers
  • Corrugated boxes

After that they are baled and sold to paper mills, paper mills recycle these bales into new products e.g. …
